Munich-based communications agency develops concept and content for public relations work on international ABB Research Award in Honor of Hubertus von Grünberg
Munich, November 17, 2015 — The Munich-based communications agency Dr. Haffa and Partner provided support to energy and automation specialist ABB in developing its communications for the ABB Research Award in Honor of Hubertus von Grünberg, which carries a US$300,000 research grant. The agency’s responsibilities included generating ideas and content to communicate the award’s debut. That included internal communications, direct contact with research institutions and universities, and media communications. The objective was to make the award known internationally and motivate qualified young scientists to apply for it.
“ABB created an outstanding award for scientific research that we needed to communicate to clearly specified target groups. The Haffa and Partner agency was a good fit here. Not only did they painstakingly develop all the content — in German and English — which got the message across to both internal and external target groups, they also put together the necessary distribution lists that made a considerable contribution to the current success of our efforts,” Reiner Schönrock of ABB remarked with satisfaction. “We very much appreciate Dr. Haffa & Partner’s dedication, skill and ability to execute.”
A call for applications by the end of January 2016 has been issued to postgraduates in the fields of power and automation at universities or research institutions for the award, which carries a US$300,000 personal research grant (http://new.abb.com/hvg-award). Outstanding dissertations which have been approved in the past three years in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, robotics, process automation, or related disciplines can be submitted.
With the grant money, ABB intends to provide an opportunity for the recipient to continue with advanced research in their field. ABB will present the award to the recipient in mid-2016 in Zurich. ABB established the research award at the beginning of the year in honor of recent Chairman of the Board of Directors Hubertus von Grünberg. The prize will be awarded for the first time in 2016, and every three years thereafter.
“We’re very pleased to have received this assignment,” explained Dr. Annegret Haffa, a managing partner at Dr. Haffa & Partner. “It’s exciting to work on this high-profile project assisting ABB in communicating about its international research grant and a great opportunity to apply our experience and skills.”
